For use with Multiwall Polycarbonate
Sheet
in Pitched Roofglazing Applications
For installing multiwall polycarbonate sheet
thicknesses from 4mm to 20mm on wooden rafters.
EPDM 'Rubber' Rafter Gasket Ref 261. Should be nailed to rafters through
the centre channel. Nails to be 300mm apart. Screw-on Aluminium Capping Bar
Ref 226 with 226G Gasket fitted. Cap should be fixed down with screws no
more than 400mm apart. Push-fit Polycarbonate Stop
End Plate Ref 226EP gives a neat finish. Aluminium Right Angle 'F'
Profile Ref 222 supports the sides of the glazing sheet and weathers the
edge of the roof slope. Should be fixed to barge boards with screws
300mm apart. Use a spirit level to ensure that the sheet remains level. Nylon Fixing Button (with Foam
Washer) Ref 244 for spot fixing to rafters, purlins, etc, on roofs with
a slope of 10º or more. Use sharp bits to drill an 18mm hole in
multiwall sheet. Do NOT overtighten - it should be possible to just turn
the button by hand.
Anti-Dust Tape Ref 4840. Use at eaves (gutter) ends of multiwall sheet
to help prevent dust entry, whilst allowing condensation drainage. 25mm
wide for sheet 4mm-8mm thick; 38mm wide for sheet 10mm-20mm thick. Aluminium 'U' Profile Ref 252.
Covers and protects Anti-Dust Tape, whilst giving a rigid and neat
finish to the cut sheet edge. Sealing Tape Ref 4810. Permanently
closes ridge (top) ends of multiwall sheet. Should be used in
combination with 4840 Tape above. Widths as above. Butyl Flashing, Ref 200/10, ensures
a weatherproof seal at the ridge.
There is a easyfix roof glazing bar or panel system suitable for most pitched roof
glazing applications. These include commercial and industrial rooflights, school
walkways and covers, hospital corridors, station canopies, supermarket
entrances, conservatories and lean-to sunrooms. In addition, there is a
cross-section of fixing accessories and complementary items to give a totally
professional finish to your glazing. Whilst these systems are designed primarily
for the easy installation of multiwall polycarbonate sheet glazing, many of them
will also accommodate glass.
When installing polycarbonate plastic sheeting, we
advise that you refer to the manufacturer's literature in relation to: the ratio
between sheet thickness and width; the distances for glazing bar centres; sheet
expansion allowances. To avoid stress in the glazing sheet, you should not
overtighten the screw-on bars and accessories.
We also recommend the use of screws
and bolts, as other metals may fail through natural chemical reaction with
aluminium. Such screws are available in the easyfix range. They come complete
with matching coloured snap-on plastic caps.
All aluminium bars and extrusions are manufactured
to BS1474: 1987 and BS6063. All coloured bars are polyester powder-coated for a
maintenance-free long life
